TILNEY OLD HALL
One of the most interesting
historic buildings in Marshland
- and one of the very few thatched properties in the area.
Built in 1553 by Baron de Tilney. The first Baron was knighted
by Richard I during the Crusades, and among his descendants was a
lady- in- waiting who watched the execution of Lady Jane Grey.
It is believed the oldest part of the house is the kitchen area and was
possibly once a bakery for the local village.
